The 2012 Tucson Festival of Books in Tucson, Arizona is held at the University of Arizona Campus, Main Mall and mall area.  Attendance is free.  If you are a writer, aspiring author or someone who loves books and exploring life through the words of author’s imagination, it’s the place to be.  Since March in Tucson sports spectacular weather, it’s a great day outdoors.  Vendors, authors and assorted booths line the outdoor mall area and scores of seminars and classes are held in the main hall rooms.

The dates are:

• Saturday, March 10, 2012,  from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

• Sunday, March 11, 2012,  from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

If you plan to attend one of the many classes, arrive at least 10 minutes early to each venue to ensure seats are available. Seating in each venue is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Take it from me, it’s no fun standing.

All garages and surface lots are free except the Second Street Garage, which is reserved for authors and moderators.

A plea is out for “the best volunteer job in town–Author Transportation” for the Festival.   There are about 50 people signed up to drive.  Judging by the number of authors requesting services this year,  closer to double that number is needed.  You can sign up to help drive at the following website:  http://www.tucsonfestivalofbooks.com/item/show/279691) or send an email to ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
