Jan 27 Boys soccer: Sabino beats Foothills 1-0 - Tucson Citizen

Division I

11-1 Tucson High earned a 7 seed and will play 9-3 Tolleson (10) at the 10-4 Maryvale (2) Region Tuesday night.

8-4 Rincon/UHS won their last six matches but it was not enough to qualify for the tournament.

Division II

10-2 Salpointe took the 5 seed and will play 11-0 Mohave (12) at the 11-1 Greenway (4) Region.

10-2 Catalina Foothills earned a 6 seed and will play 9-4 South Mountain (11) at the 12-0 Marcos de Niza (3) Region.

10-2 Nogales (8) will play 9-3 Glendale (9) at the 11-1 Apollo (1) Region.

CDO (9-3) is sitting at 17 and will miss the playoffs by one match again if the power points hold up. They lost to Foothills twice and Nogales.

Sabino (3-9) came up with the upset of the night and beat Foothills 1-0 on a goal from Diego Morales (no relation) at home Thursday night. The loss may have cost Foothills the chance to host a region.

Division III

10-2 Douglas (7) will play 9-5 Cactus (10) at the 11-1 Northwest Christian (2) Region.

9-3 Palo Verde (13) will play at 11-2 Williams Field (4).

9-3 Catalina (14) will play at 11-1 Coronado (3). The Trojans lost their last three matches while Douglas has won nine in row.
